Monique has created on wooden board and panels since 2020 and been an inspiration for others on the Mornington Peninsula. In 2022 while exhibiting Celtic, universal, Pacific, Maori sculptures in the USA, co created in a previous marriage by an international team, Monique created paintings on board to complement the world’s only exhibition of this size and nature in ancient swamp kauri.
Monique is an intuitive creative who felt Japan would be the next country to exhibit this extra ordinary body of sculptures. She therefore continues to make her works on wooden board and panel quite natural
“Safe” should perhaps read “Peace” following an overseas journey spanning 30 years since the heinous tragic loss of her daughter in 1991 at the hands of her husband who wanted to become an intercessor for a few gangs. At the time Monique was a Research co ordinator at Melbourne University and had raised her daughter as a single mother.
